Preface

We are both humbled and honored to have been invited to update this textbook, knowing its vast and impactful history. In the prior editions of this text, Charles Ciccone charted the course for pharmacology to become core content within the rehabilitation professions. We realize that change continues to occur in all of healthcare and our hope is to update contemporary knowledge and clinical applicability. Specifically, we expanded content for the management of pain, types of vaccines, and the therapy implications of the pharmacological management of diabetes mellitus. We were also intentional in updating the language to be more inclusive. Understanding the changing role of healthcare providers, we included interprofessional language where applicable. We hope you find these changes to be beneficial.
